BURUNDI: The start of the new academic year at the Matana secondary school

On September 5, 2016, the Matana Reference School "Amie des Enfants" began the 2016-2017 school year in a particularly pleasant atmosphere. Animators from the NGO Play Internationnal organized a sports event which, through collective games associated with small quizzes, gave alumni and new students the opportunity to get to know each other and to discover the organisation's staff. These activities also allowed the students to start this school year with motivation and energy.

The school activities officially began in the afternoon after saluting the flag.
Surrounded by the school's staff, the Director Dieudonné Manampa wished the students a good and happy school year, and a year of work and success. Mrs. Spès Nihangaza, Legal Representative of the school, recalled the aim of the Reference School "Amie des Enfants". Indeed, the school is committed to providing children with quality education so that they may become future professionals or competent and integral technicians who will be the pride of their parents and Burundi.

All the students then went to their respective classes to make contact with their teachers.

Created by FVS-AMADE Burundi, the Matana Reference School "Amie des Enfants" welcomes orphans and vulnerable children who have had excellent primary school results but can not afford a good quality education.
The school opened in September 2014 and currently has 202 pupils, including 20 orphans and other vulnerable children.
