For its first edition, ‘The Latin America Charity Ball’ honoured Panama and raised funds for AMADE for an ambitious project to prevent sexual abuse ‘Children safe from sexual abuse in Panama’.

The Yacht Club de Monaco was decked out in Panama's colours on 3 October for this gala dinner organised by Mrs Daniela Spanier, President of MeConnect, an initiative designed to promote the cultural wealth of the South American continent in the Principality, facilitate contacts between economic players and encourage philanthropic commitment to child protection.

The dinner, held under the patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, was attended by Panama's First Lady, Maricel Cohen de Mulino, and a host of leading Panamanian figures from the world of culture.

It was an immersive experience for the 235 guests, who were able to discover Panama's gastronomic riches thanks to the Michelin-starred chefs who came especially for the occasion, dance to Caribbean folk rhythms and watch a sustainable fashion show. It was an event that brought together guests from all over the world to celebrate Panama, a quality event made possible thanks to the support of two major sponsors, Altiore Multi Family Office and Liam Group.

It was also an opportunity to honour a number of personalities: Olga Sinclair, Ricardo Velasquez, Ana Carla Maza, Jennie Barb, Ornelis Cortez, Regina Arauz Liakopulos, Alegria Polit, Carolina Alfonso, Cuquita Arias de Calvo, Charlie Collins, Issamary Sanchez Gonzales, Rula Lakas and Sophie Breebaart for their commitment to society, with the presentation of a Latin American Impact Award designed by Brazilian artist Marcos Marin.

The event was actively supported by a number of residents with strong ties to South America, including Luciana de Montigny, President and Founder of the Brasil Monaco Project initiative, a link between the Principality and Brazil.

MeConnect, whose philanthropic commitment is a priority, wished to dedicate this evening to children, by organising an auction and a tombola, with all proceeds going to AMADE.

The donations raised during the evening will enable AMADE to develop its activities on the South American continent and to support a first local initiative led by the FUN Foundation (Fundacion Unidos por la Ninez), entitled ‘Children sheltered from sexual abuse in Panama’, represented for the occasion by its President Mrs Jennie BARB.

This project illustrating AMADE's #DignityForWomen programme will be implemented in partnership with Panama's Ministry of Education and will aim to prevent and denounce child sexual abuse.
